As part of its annual Top Picks list, Consumer Reports has named the Ram 1500 as the top truck in the Pickup Truck category.
The Pickup Truck category was unusually quiet because Consumer Reports had not yet tested the updated Ram 1500 and the redesigned Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra, according to our sister site, Hard Working Trucks.
The report notes that the upcoming Ram EcoDiesel V6 is likely to be the most fuel-efficient for the Pickup Truck class when it’s evaluated.
Fuel economy with the popular 5.3-liter V8 crew cab that Consumer Reports tested was a best-in-class 16 mpg overall.
The Top Picks are chosen from more than 260 vehicles the organization has recently tested.
All Top Pick models must meet the group’s criteria, including road test, reliability and safety.
