JCB has donated an additional $250,000 worth of equipment to Nepal as the small South Asian country continues to clean up the devastation from two earthquakes. Nepal was hit by a 7.8-magnitude quake on April 25; then on May 12, another earthquake rocked the country, this one measuring 7.3.

After responding to the first earthquake, which left more than 8,000 dead, by sending in heavy equipment valued at more than $1 million, JCB sent in an addition $250,000 in backhoe loaders, skid steers, pick-and-carry cranes, telescopic handlers and electric generators after the second earthquake.

A JCB spokesman said the smaller, maneuverable machines were needed to lift debris and move heavy loads, especially after the second quake. MAW Enterprises is the JCB dealer in Nepal.
