1915-1930 Caterpillar Advertisements Put On Display

caterpillar-logoThe Peoria Public Library is gaining a few unique pieces to its collection.

The library will be showing Caterpillar advertisements from magazines from 1915-1930 throughout the month of September, according to the Peoria Journal Star.

The collection comes from Mark Johnson, a Caterpillar employee for 37 years before retiring in 2009.

More than 100 ads will be on display and show the formation of the Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1925.

The ads primarily come from the Literary Digest, the American City and the Saturday Evening Post.

Divided into nine sections, the display will feature ads from machines that were adapted in WWI to Caterpillar’s response to the market crash of 1939 and the Great Depression.
