Classes, webinars set on key irrigation issues for landscape professionals

The Irrigation Association has scheduled a number of new classes and webinars of special interest to landscape professionals. Classes are held in a variety of locations around the country and details are available at the association’s website. Here’s a look at logoa couple of the webinars set for the coming months:

  • July 9, 2-3 p.m. EDT

“How WaterSense Is Enhancing Efficient Irrigation Technology”

Irrigation is now a staple of the Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense program, with weather-based irrigation controllers and numerous certifications carrying the WaterSense label. This webinar will explore the program and evaluate how this label helps promote efficient water use in the landscape. Worth one Continuing Education Unit (CEU) in the Tier 1-Irrigation Training category.

  • Aug. 5, 2-3 p.m. EDT

“Keeping Water on Target: Impacts on Uniformity & Efficiency”

This webinar will discuss nozzle performance and various metrics used to measure water application to the landscape, including distribution uniformity, losses to overspray and deep percolation that affect irrigation efficiency. In addition, the discussion will look at sprinkler layout and how that affects performance. The principal speaker will be Brent Q. Mecham, industry development director for the Irrigation Association. Worth one CEU in the Tier 1-Irrigation Training category.

  • Dec. 3, 2 p.m. EST

“How Policy Affects Sustainable Landscape Irrigation”

Save the date as plans are finalized for this webinar on a key issue for the landscaping industry. While sustainability has long been a priority for both residential and commercial clients in drought-stricken areas of the country, it’s gaining momentum among environmentally conscious landscaping customers nationwide. Worth one CEU in the Tier 1-Irrigation Training category.
