While professional certification is a promising way to advance your own career or bolster your company’s reputation, it’s also required by regulatory agencies in many instances.
Here’s a good site that lists course descriptions, dates and prices. You’ll need to act quickly to participate in the latest “Landscape Irrigation Technician” course, which is set for March 1-2 in Meridian, Indiana.
On those same dates, an IA course titled “Certified Irrigation Contractor Training & Testing” is scheduled for Carmel, Indiana. The course will be held at Carmel Water Operations Center. (Here’s the address to plug into your GPS: 3450 West 131st Street, Carmel, Indiana 46074.)
The cost of the course is $425 for members of the Indiana Professional Lawn & Landscape Association and the Indiana Irrigation Contractors Council and $575 for non-members. The cost includes the manual for the course as well as lunch on both days.
On March 3-4 at Northeast Nursery Inc. in Peabody, Massachusetts, the association and its partners have scheduled “Certified Irrigation Technician Training & Exam.” It will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. And finally, on March 17, with the examination set for the following day, the Certified Irrigation Technician course and exam will be offered at CPS Distributors, 1105 W. 122nd Ave., Westminster, Colorado 80234. The March 17 class is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the following day’s examination lasts from 8 a.m. to noon. The course carries 8 CEU and costs $125 per person. Lunch is provided.
The popular Certified Irrigation Technician course covers the basics of hydraulics and irrigation system installation and maintenance. It’s a hands-on class with sessions on gluing and repairing PVC pipe, installing nozzles and adjusting heads, setting and repairing electric valves, and field and controller wiring techniques.
