Midwest Equipment (MWE) is expanding its inventory of Bridgestone compact track loaders. The company says that with this expansion of the Bridgestone tracks comes the ability to outfit the widest range of compact track loaders with job-matched high-quality rubber tracks.

The Bridgestone CTL tracks are currently available in two track patterns, Block Pattern rubber track and PolarTread rubber track, with more options to come. The Block Pattern tracks offer versatile and heavy duty track patterns options that the company says performs well in many applications.

These tracks feature Pro-Edge sidewall protection, reinforced roller path, premium rubber compounds and patented Anti-Edge cut profile. The PolarTread tracks offer improved traction on winter conditions, and both patterns are stocked at MWE distribution centers across the USA.

Bruce Williams to serve as CGCS keynote speaker at Deep South Turf Expo

Moving into its third year, the Deep South Turf Expo will be held in Biloxi, Mississippi, Nov. 7-9. The conference and trade show will take place at the Mississippi Coast Convention Center, and this year’s CGCS keynote speaker will be Bruce Williams, owner of Bruce Williams Golf Consulting. He will present on “Leading Your Way to Success!”7d86bb5a 2018 44e3 980e 59d3a9d6d697

Williams’ business provides a variety of services to the golf industry, such as strategic planning, meeting facilitation, business development, career planning, writing and speaking and executive search.

According to Williams, successful managers must, “Shift the mind set from managing people to leadership. The key is to focus on leading a team, rather than managing staff. Turf managers have a difficult job, and there is an everyday need to inspire those who work with them to produce a better product. The best teams are those who are trained properly and fully understand the goals, objectives and missions of their club.”

Other criteria for being a successful turf manager are “managing up” and “managing laterally.” Williams adds, “Too often turf professionals see their jobs as managing turf, but that is the easiest part of it. Managing ‘up and laterally’ applies to interacting with colleagues such as the golf pro, club house manager, club board of directors and club members. Important components in your plan should be developing business acumen, leadership and communication skills.”

Additionally, five breakout sessions in golf, sports turf, lawn care, landscape and sod production will be presented by the constellation of Turf grass agronomists, industry partners and extension specialist. A complete program of the Expo can be found at DeepSouthTurfExpo.org, and registration can be done there also.

STIHL sponsors Team Rubicon to support disaster relief missions

STIHL Inc. will be supplying STIHL power equipment and funding to Team Rubicon in support of their mission to unite the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams. The primary mission of Team Rubicon is to provide relief to those affected by natural disasters, both abroad and in the U.S.

STIHL’s equipment has long been use by Team Rubicon in disaster zones for clearing debris that’s blocking a road or by removing a collapsed tree from a home. Volunteers with Team Rubicon have been trained to use a range of STIHL chain saw models.

“We are proud to provide our products as well as training expertise to assist Team Rubicon first responders in the field,” said Roger Phelps, corporate communications manager for STIHL Inc. “By tapping in to the discipline and experience of veterans, Team Rubicon is uniquely positioned to offer assistance when disaster strikes, and we want to help them in their efforts.”

Team Rubicon says that it hopes that by engaging veterans in these projects, it will help them find a renewed sense of purpose, community and identity. Military veterans founded the organization after realizing that the skills that saved lives on the battlefield— risk assessment and mitigation, emergency medicine, decisive leadership and teamwork—play a key role when working in a disaster zone.

“Disaster response is hard work, but we’re thrilled to partner with STIHL, whose chain saws can withstand the unforgiving and challenging environment of any disaster,” said Jake Wood, co-founder and chief executive officer of Team Rubicon. “If we want our volunteers to be the best, we have to team up with the best. This sponsorship allows Team Rubicon to scale its efforts in bringing localized disaster response to communities across the country.”
