Green people: United Turf Alliance leadership changes

United Turf Alliance announced recently that its president, Tim Zech, had resigned. The corporation’s chairman, Bob Mele, has been appointed interim president.

Zech said looks forward to working with UTA in the future, “as I have accepted a position with a major supplier to the group, Willowood USA.”

UTA also announced that Aaron Goy has joined the leadership team to fill the newly created position of director of sales and marketing. Formerly the president of ProGro Solutions and founder of Bull Market Turf and Ornamental Inc., Goy has decades of sales management, marketing and product distribution experience.

UTA said the new sales and marketing position was created to support the growth of the alliance, and the corporation plans to add additional leadership posts to support members and dealer partners, and to explore new market opportunities.

Kawasaki Engines names OEM sales manager

The Engines Division of Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A. announced recently the addition of Todd Sytsma to its management team. Sytsma will oversee the division’s relationships with the original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, community.

A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Sytsma will hold the title of OEM sales manager. He worked most recently with Michigan-based Visual Workplace Inc. in both sales and distribution management roles and previously held sales positions in the office furniture industry. Sytsma holds a business administration degree from Calvin College.

Kawasaki, which has produced more than 8 million engines at its plant in Missouri, recently moved the company’s research and development group to the division’s Grand Rapids headquarters.

Kawasaki Engines Division distributes gasoline engines for landscape, industrial and consumer markets.

Ruppert promotes 3 at Washington, D.C., branch

Ruppert Landscape recently announced the promotions of Nathan Fadrowski, Kyle Meissner and Claire Seesman in the company’s Washington, D.C., landscape management branch.

Fadrowski, a resident of Windsor Mill, Maryland, has been promoted to area manager. He joined the company in 2015 as a field manager in Ruppert’s Laytonsville landscape management branch.

Fadrowski holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Shenandoah University.

Meissner, a resident of Marriottsville, Maryland, has also been promoted to area manager. He joined the company in 2013 as a crewman and quickly worked his way up to field manager in the Laytonsville landscape management branch.

As area managers, Fadrowski and Meissner will be responsible for the sale, renewal and production of the D.C. branch’s landscape management work; the training and development of personnel; and ensuring quality, customer service and customer retention.

Claire SeesmanClaire Seesman

Seesman, a resident of Damascus, Maryland, has been promoted to enhancement manager.

She joined the company in early 2015 as a designer in the Laytonsville landscape management branch and has since taken on the additional responsibilities of a business developer.

Seesman is a Maryland Nursery Landscape and Greenhouse Association (MNLGA) certified professional horticulturalist and holds a bachelor’s degree in family studies and ecological design from Prescott College. As enhancement manager, she will be responsible for planning and executing all upgrades to help rejuvenate existing landscape management contracts.
