Skilsaw announced its entry into the linear cutting market with a 13-amp reciprocating saw with Buzzkill technology.

Featuring a patented full-frame counterbalance, the company says it suppresses vibration up to 35 percent over the competition, which they say means comfortable, controlled cuts that won’t wear out the user or the saw.

Skilsaw features a linear system, which the company says simplifies the counterbalance to maintain superior vibration control with fewer wear points. This reduced vibration, Skilsaw says, will make the tool more durable, increase the lifespan and provide greater user comfort.

The company says it also developed the patented single-wobble drive train, which they say reduced friction to slow down heat buildup for a longer tool life. Additionally, the 13-amp reciprocating saw features a unique clock spring brush system.

Regardless of heat or dust flow, Skilsaw says that the constant spring is designed for durability and optimal motor performance as the saw pushes through the cut.

“We understand there is a wide offering in the existing reciprocating saw market,” said Bogdan Moldovan, product manager at Skilsaw. “However, we were confident that we could go further. And we did. After extensive research, including working with pros across the country, we’re excited to give users a reciprocating saw option with all-new distinctive features.”

A few other features include a variable speed trigger for cutting specialized materials, an oversize trigger for flexibility in multiple cutting positions and a secure tool-less blade clamp.

The 13-amp SPT44A-00 reciprocating saw is a compact model with an ergonomic design, and the company says that its tough motor still provides enough power for any application. Skilsaw says that this is the only reciprocating saw in the compact market with both counterbalance and a single-wobble drive train, and it is priced at $99.

“Expanding our product offering from circular to linear cutting further positions Skilsaw as a professional cutting solution provider for different materials,” said Jason Schickerling, director of product development at Skilsaw. “In 2015, we launched metal-cutting, fiber cement and worm drive table saws, and most recently, in 2016, we launched our first concrete saw for cutting and scoring. We strive to design better tools that allow pros to work smarter, not harder, on today’s demanding jobsites.”

Also featuring Buzzkill technology, a 15-amp reciprocating saw will also be available later this year. Skilsaw says the SPT44-10 will address user demand for fast, reliable cut performance that remains consistent, even during intense applications and frequent jobsite use.

Featuring an orbital mode switch and variable speed dial, Skilsaw says the 15-amp provides faster cutting in wood and specialized materials and an adjustable shoe for improved control and cut depth.

The company says that the tool also offers a comfortable solution that professionals can use all day with minimal fatigue, and the 15-amp is priced at $179.

Greenworks expands 82-volt line of products

Greenworks Commercial recently announced that it has expanded its 82-volt line with a new commercial-grade brushless pole saw that the company says is perfect for fall outdoor maintenance.

The brushless pole saw is powered by 82-volt battery technology, and the company says it delivers power and run-time that’s equivalent to comparable gas-powered models. Combined with brushless, electric motor technology, Greenworks says the 82-volt battery provides best-in-class torque and product life with zero-maintenance functionality, while producing reduced noise and vibration and the complete elimination of emissions.

This product features the following technology:

  • 10-inch Oregon bar and chain with side adjust chain tensioning
  • 3-piece aluminum alloy shaft for 8-inch or 12-inch reach (extension included)
  • Quick connections
  • Brushless motor
  • Auto oiler to keep the chain lubricated
  • 27-degree angled head
  • Available for use with 2.5Ah, 4.0Ah and 5.0Ah batteries

“Thanks to their ability to provide incredible performance without disturbing the serenity of the natural environment, while saving users money over time, our 82-volt line has caught on quickly among professional landscapers and golf course superintendents,” said Chris Allen, president of Greenworks North America. “We are excited to expand that popular family of tools with an exciting new brushless pole saw that truly lives up to the Greenworks name and our brand’s reputation for high performing, environmentally-responsible tools.”

The company says that along with being quieter and eliminating odors for clients, the brushless pole saw is more user-friendly with 50 percent less noise than the gas equivalent, which Greenworks says reduces fatigue to extend the work day. The company says restarting the tool is safe and easy since the pull trigger start eliminates pull cords.

The company says that the brushless pole saw’s ecological benefits complement the 82-volt tool’s effectiveness and ease-of-use. To make landscape and lawn maintenance more environmentally responsible, Greenworks says that the tool produces zero emissions and zero exhaust fumes, is powered by a 100 percent recyclable lithium-ion battery and requires no fuel or stabilizer mix.

Bosch reveals dual bay charger and portable power adapter

Using the Bosch GAX18V-30 18V/12V Dual Bay Charger, the company says the dual-charging convenience allows Bosch users to charge 18V and 12V Max batteries simultaneously along with mobile devices.

“The Bosch GAX18V-30 Dual Bay Charger and the Bosch GAA18V-24 18V Portable Power Adapter provide Bosch users with convenience in two practical charging solutions,” said Theron Sherrod, product manager, cordless power tools, Robert Bosch Tool Corporation. “By offering 18-volt and 12-volt battery charging plus power for mobile device batteries in one place, the GAX18V-30 gives Bosch professional power tool users an effective charging tool, not just another charger. The GAA18V-24 18V assures users that they can keep mobile devices powered when the only power source is a Bosch 18V battery.”

The company says the dual bay charger quickly charges batteries and provides LED indicators so users can monitor charging. In 85 minutes, Bosch says a fully depleted Bosch 18V 4.0 Ah battery can be charged, and a depleted Bosch 12V Max 2.0 Ah battery can be charged in 45 minutes.

Bosch says the charger also provides a 2.4 amp max USB port to power up cell phones and other mobile devices. The company says that the Bosch GAX18V-30 18V/12V Dual Bay Charger is also compatible with all Bosch 18-volt Lithium-ion batteries.

The Bosch GAA18V-24 18V Portable Power Adapter works with 18V Lithium-ion batteries to deliver power to any 5V USB or 12V DC devices, and the company says it is capable of charging two devices simultaneously.

The portable power adapter is designed to withstand jobsite conditions and continue charging, and the company says that the power adapter output is 2.4 amps to get phones and other devices ready to use in a hurry.

The adapter also features a port compatibility with Bosch heated jackets, which the company says allows users to power heated jackets with 18V Lithium-ion batteries to increase the heating zone runtime.

Including a metal belt clip for additional user convenience, the company says the Bosch GAA18V-24 18V Portable Power Adapter prevents overcharging by going into sleep mode after charging a device. The product features a power on button to activate the charger for each charging session and to begin powering the heated jacket, and the charger also adapts to the device being charged to allow optimal charging current to the device.
