SiteOne buys NYC area nursery, landscape supply business

SiteOne-logoSiteOne Landscape Supply LLC has acquired Long Island, New York-based Bissett Nursery and Bissett Equipment Companies.

Established in the backyard of its founders, James Bissett Jr. and his wife, Joan, in 1963, the large wholesale nursery and supply business has three locations on Long Island. In addition to plants from the nursery operation, the company distributes hardscape and landscape supplies, and sells, rents and services equipment.

All Bissett employees are expected to remain with the company, SiteOne said.

“Bissett is a terrific fit with SiteOne on Long Island,” said Doug Black, CEO of SiteOne Landscape Supply. “Both Bissett Nursery and Bissett Equipment are clear market leaders and they complement our existing business in the agronomics, irrigation and outdoor lighting markets. Joining forces with the Bissett team makes us the largest supplier of all landscaping supplies, material and equipment to green industry professionals on Long Island and in New York City.”

SiteOne, a publicly traded company that was spun off from John Deere, has more than 465 locations across North America.

Formerly known as John Deere Landscapes, SiteOne Landscape Supply was purchased from Deere by the private equity fund Clayton, Dubilier & Rice in December 2013. Then, one year ago this month, the company completed an initial public offering of stock.
