SnowEx will hold a series of training sessions in the Midwest and Northeast through August and September in an effort to provide contractors best practices for using salt brines in snow and ice control management plans.

The tour kicks off Aug. 9 in Des Moines, Iowa, and wraps up Sept. 22 in Buffalo, New York. Topics covered will include:

  • Return on investment – How to operate more efficiently and reduce costs by adding salt brine to operations.
  • How to sell your customer – How to effectively sell liquid ice-control strategies to customers and build these services into contracts.
  • Litigation – Tips on how to reduce potential liability by using liquid ice-control techniques.
  • Environmental impact – Ways to minimize the environmental impacts of rock salt on infrastructure, ecosystems and water sources, and significantly reduce property damage.

“We want to share knowledge our customers can use for the economic benefit of their business,” says Daniel Gilliland, training manager for SnowEx and a certified snow professional through the Snow & Ice Management Association. “Equally important, however, is the environmental aspect of using liquids. With potential legislation on the horizon, it’s more important than ever for contractors to understand how to protect themselves through improved ice-control methods.”

The full schedule is here. The registration fee is $50.

SnowEx, part of Douglas Dynamics LLC, is based in Madison Heights, Michigan.
