Troy-Bilt, Remington Electric Leaf Blowers Recalled

Troy-Bilt BlowerMTD Products has recalled two different leaf blowers.

Remington BlowerThe Troy-Bilt electric leaf blowers and the Remington electric leaf blowers are both recalled due to hazards.

The Troy-Bilt electric leaf blower’s impeller can break and strike the operator during use, which can pose a laceration hazard.

This recall will affect approximately 134,000 units, and affects units with model TB180B, item number 41BA180G966 and serial numbers ranging from S1D111XK0001 through S1F152XK2008. They were manufactured between April 11, 2011 and June 15, 2012.

MTD has received 17 incident reports, including 12 injuries that resulted in lacerations requiring stiches, cuts and bruises.

The Remington electric leaf blower’s impeller can also break and strike the operator during use.

This recall will affect approximately 24,000 units, and affects units with model RM180B, item number 41AA180G983 and serial numbers ranging from S1E131XK0001 through S1E162XK2008. They were manufactured between May 13, 2011 and May 16, 2012.

One incident has been reported by MTD, and that incident resulted in cuts and bruises.
