Celebrate Industry Women

WIC Week Button Final OutlinesSunday marked the official beginning of this year’s “Women in Construction Week.”

Ending on March 9, the week will be a time for women to celebrate being in the industry as well as have an opportunity to share stories and projects they have worked on.

Organizations like the NAWIC, or the National Association of Women in Construction, are inviting chapters, companies and regions to share specific projects for the week through social media.

“WIC week is designed to increase the visibility of women working in the construction industry, share our passion and encourage others to join the construction industry and NAWIC,” the NAWIC site states.

WIC Week is a compilation of chapters giving back to communities across the country along with bringing awareness of women in the construction industry.

Women make up approximately 10 percent of the construction industry, and having chapters and organizations like the NAWIC is a good way for women to get involved.

The NAWIC offers a variety of education programs, scholarship opportunities, communication tools and career builder methods for women in the industry.

WIC is just one example of how the organization is helping women in construction.
