Bill Passes to Allow Xeriscaping
One bill was passed in the House on Friday to prevent homeowner’s associations from restricting homeowners to xeriscape their lawns. Sen. Kirk Watson, D-Austin, said it’s unreasonable for a landscape design to be refused because it doesn’t fit in with the other lawns in the neighborhood, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The Sustainable Sites Initiative has announced four new projects that have achieved certification for sustainable design, construction and maintenance of built landscapes. These projects, as part of a group of 150 projects participating in an extensive, two-year pilot program, have applied the SITES guidelines and met the requirements for certification.
