John Deere is expanding its ZTrak mower fleet. The company has added the Z925M Flex Fuel mower with ethanol blends up to E85. The model is part of the M Series ZTrack commercial mowers and features a 24.6 horsepower electronic fuel injected engine.

Help Engines Last Longer
ECHO has introduced PowerFuel, the first pre-mixed gas/oil product to use Red Armor Oil. The PowerFuel is pre-mixed fuel, which contains 93 octane gas and oil ready to use right out of the can. The fuel contains no ethanol and is developed at a 50:1 ratio.

Gas with Ethanol Can Make Small Engines Fail
The Environmental Protection Agency has approved gasoline with 15 percent ethanol for use in cars year 2001 or newer, yet it prohibits its use in mowers and other power equipment, stating it may cause damage. A Department of Energy study found that E15 caused hotter operating temperatures, erratic running, and engine-part failure. But even gas with the usual 10 percent ethanol (E10) could help destroy small engines.

Court Denies Challenge to EPA Ethanol Ruling
A federal court on Tuesday preserved an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ruling that permits the sale of a high-ethanol fuel blend. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia denied a rehearing on the EPA decision that put fuels with a 15-percent ethanol concentration, known as E15, on the market.

Maine DEP Looks to Ban Ethanol Gas
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection is preparing to wade into a national debate surrounding gasoline blends made up of more than 10 percent ethanol. The state agency is at work on a bill that would ban such gasoline blends in Maine if at least two other New England states go along with the prohibition.
