Finn Corp. to supply Marine Corps with HydroSeeders

Finn Corporation has received a contract to be the sole manufacturer supplying the Marine Corps System Command with skid- and trailer-mounted HydroSeeders. The contract is approved for up to 80 HydroSeeders per year, with 16 delivered in 2005 and 39 in 2006.

According to Finn Corp., these HydroSeeders are designed to perform under extreme conditions – preventing, improving and controlling environmental conditions. Michelle Ehlers, marketing manager for Finn, says the intense spraying distance and spraying power of the HydroSeeders makes them useful under a variety of circumstances. The Marine Corps has been using the machines to spray a chemical formulation of dust palliative agents around its helicopter landing pads to prevent dust storms.

Finn supplies the Marine Corps with two different HydroSeeder models. A 900-gallon, trailer-mounted HydroSeeder maneuvers easily in soft, sandy conditions and has high-speed highway and off-road travel capabilities. The 1200-gallon, skid-mounted HydroSeeder model is compatible with the Marine Corps Medium Tactical Replacement and other military vehicles.

Both HydroSeeder models are powered by Kubota diesel engines and include reversible, variable speed mechanical puddle agitation, valve control and liquid recirculation system, as well as a specially designed centrifugal pump and a direct drive with over-center clutch that operates independently of the agitator operation.
