Novalis roses receive top honors

Two shrub rose varieties from Novalis, “Double Knock Out” and “Pink Double Knock Out,” have been recognized for top industry awards. The roses are part of Plants That Work, a national, consumer plant brand from Novalis.

The “Pink Double Knock Out” won Best New Plant by NMPro Magazine’s 2007 New Plant Pavilion, an award determined by a majority vote by comparing the 38 plants from 17 participating companies at the 2007 American Nursery and Landscape Association’s Management Clinic in Louisville, Kentucky.

The “Double Knock Out” rose has received recognition as a top new variety by the American Rose Society’s “2006 Roses In Review” report. The rose also received an 8.4 garden rating among competitive roses in the Top Ten Big Roses category, the highest rating in the group.

“Superior breeding and excellence in garden performance make the ‘Double Knock Out’ and ‘Pink Double Knock Out’ clear choices for home gardeners across the country,” says J. Guy, manager of Novalis. “The Novalis commitment to bring high-quality, reliable plant material to consumers can be seen in both of these steadfast roses.”

According to Novalis, the “Double Knock Out” offers double, rich, full cherry-red blooms from early June to hard frost. The “Pink Double Knock Out” shows double, hot-pink flowers that do not require deadheading. Both grow in full sun to reach 4 feet high and wide. The roses are disease and pest resistant and are hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 4-9.
