C.E. Pontz Sons and Pontz Landscape Service merge

Two landscaping firms that have operated independently in Pennsylvania for several decades have merged to offer a wider range of residential and commercial landscape services. C.E. Pontz Sons, a landscape design and installation company known for its commercial projects, and Pontz Landscape Service Inc., an award-winning company focusing mainly on residential landscape design and installation, have merged to create a new company, temporarily called C.E. Pontz Sons/Pontz Landscape Service.

James Pontz, former owner of Pontz Landscape Service and now the company’s sales representative, says the similarity of the two businesses’ names had caused confusion for years. By merging, the companies could eliminate confusion as well as expand their services. A few years after his cousins, who owned C.E. Pontz Sons, sold the company to Adrian Kapp, Pontz sold his company to Kapp as well, and the two have been working together for about four weeks.

“I see nothing but good things coming out of this merger,” Pontz says. “Now the company can offer extremely diversified services to its clients.”

Pontz says Pontz Landscape Service had always contracted out for jobs such as snow removal and paver installation, and C.E. Pontz Sons did not offer outdoor lighting and did limited work with ponds. The company no longer has to hire as many subcontractors because its employees are trained and certified in more areas.

Pontz says Kapp decided to retain all 14 employees from Pontz Landscape Service after the merger, and the company will move into a new building on its 8-acre property in the fall, when a new name will also be considered. Both companies are divisions of Eve Environmental Services and together have 20 employees.
