Southern Bulb Company redesigns Web site as heirloom bulb resource

Designed as a premiere database for heirloom flower bulb varieties, the Web site for the Southern Bulb Company provides information about fall and spring heirloom bulbs as a year-round reference guide for bulb gardeners.

The Web site, www.southernbulbs.com, includes detailed information about the best growth environments for the company’s selection of Southern-grown heirloom flower bulbs, which have thrived unattended in the South for decades. According to the Southern Bulb Company, many of these bulbs are found around abandoned houses where only the foundation and flowers remain.

The site also provides a single place to buy rare and heirloom bulbs, limited edition botanical art and other bulb-related products. Chris Wiesinger, president of the Southern Bulb Company, says the Web site is the result of months of effort to compile information to provide a resource for bulb enthusiasts. “This new Web site is part of a continual effort to simplify the ordering process, while also providing our customers with the tips they need, from the best soil types to the right amount of sun and shade, to see their bulbs thrive in their regions,” Wiesinger says.

Using video, fast facts and other multimedia on the new site, the Southern Bulb Company hopes to help people experience the history and stories of the bulbs. Visitors to the site can watch videos of daily life on the bulb farm, view top quality photos of heirloom flower bulb varieties, read Wiesinger’s blog and find bulb facts.
