Briggs & Stratton announced a yearlong celebration of its 100th anniversary. Festivities are being planned in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home of the corporate headquarters, and at other locations globally.
Started in 1908 by Stephen F. Briggs and Harold M. Stratton, the company began by producing a diverse line of products including engine-powered bicycles and electric refrigerators. Today, they manufacture air-cooled gasoline engines for the outdoor power equipment industry and employee over 8,000 people in 10 manufacturing facilities worldwide.
Briggs & Stratton has also begun to expand its product line by manufacturing generators, walk-behind and riding lawn mowers, trimmers, hedgers and other products.
