The Massachusetts Arborists Association (MAA) plans to celebrate Arbor Day with their 29th annual volunteer project at the Codman Estate in Lincoln, Massachusetts. About 200 members of the MAA will gather to prune, plant and transplant shade trees on the estate grounds.
Now owned and maintained by Historic New England, the Codman Estate was built in 1740 by the Russell family. John Codman took control of the property in 1790. The grounds feature a hidden Italianate garden, circa 1900, with perennial beds, statuary and a reflecting pool adorned with water lilies.
Arbor Day 2008 is April 25.
