Private pond restriction in Utah

The International Professional Pond Contractors Association (IPPCA) is asking for all Utah residents and pond owners nationwide to view proposed Utah state legislation that, if passed, could give the state authority to restrict private ponds. Section R657-59-17: Division Authority to Restrict Private Ponds beings by saying “Stocking and maintaining aquaculture products in private fish ponds pursuant to this rule is a conditional privilege that is subject to unilateral modification or termination by the division or other competent legal authority.”

The comment period for this piece of legislation ends August 14. For questions regarding this rule, contact Staci Coons at (801) 538-4718 or [email protected]. For questions regarding the rulemaking process call the Division of Administrative Rules at (801) 538-3764. The IPPCA is encouraging pond owners and contractors to call for the removal of the entire section.
