Kenworth delivers hybrid truck for use at Quebec Winter Games 2009

Kenworth Truck Company delivered a new T370 diesel-electric hybrid truck for use in the Quebec Winter Games 2009. The new hybrid is one of the first medium-duty hybrid trucks to be in operation in Quebec, and was produced at the PACCAR plant in nearby Ste. Therese.

The truck will be used to transport equipment and supplies between athletic venues in the host cities of Blainville, Rosemere and Ste. Therese. Chakib Toubal Seghir, Ste. Therese plant manager, presented a large symbolic truck key to Ste. Therese Mayor Sylvie Surprenant, who also serves as vice president of the Winter Games.

Kenworth offers the hybrid option on its T270 Class 6 and T370 Class 7 conventional models. The hybrid system, which can switch among electric only, combined diesel and electric and diesel only, is monitored through a dash display. As power requirements for various driving conditions change, the display updates the operator on the system status.

The Quebec Winter Games 2009 will be February 27 through March 7.
