PLANET adds 12 companies to STARS

The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) added 12 lawn maintenance, landscape and supplier companies to the participants in the STARS Safe Company Program. STARS, a free safety program designed to encourage all green industry companies to improve workplace safety, aims to help green industry companies lower total costs of risk by decreasing work hazards and injuries. PLANET invites all green industry professionals to become STARS members.

Members of the program sign a pledge committing them to increasing the safety of the industry through active involvement, sharing experiences and becoming mentors for “living safety.” Participants also develop a strong safety program using a STARS compact disc as a guideline and investigate and document each job-related injury, incident or accident. STARS asks that members participate in PLANET’s safety recognition awards program, share best practices with other STARS members, comply with all OSHA postings and other regulatory requirements and encourage other companies to become STARS members.
