New IA president inducted at International Irrigation Show

The irrigation industry faces a growing need to define its role in preserving water resources because of the increasing demand on limited water resources, says incoming Irrigation Association President John Roberts.

“The world of water is changing rapidly,” Roberts says. “We must be proactive with a loud voice, or we will find our industry being forced to change in ways that are not healthy for the industry or the environment.” Increased membership and member involvement are necessary, he says, to strengthen Irrigation Association programs and alliances.

Roberts took over as IA president at the 27th Annual Irrigation Show, which involved more than 5,500 attendees and more than 350 exhibits. Most of the 43 educational courses offered were full or near capacity. The show included a three-day expo, six days of irrigation classes and exams, industry meetings, technical sessions and the annual New Product Contest.
