OAN donates to HRI to support green industry research

The Oregon Association of Nurseries contributed $127,500 to the Horticultural Research Institute and its endowment fund in support of research covering production, environmental and business issues significant to the green industry. OAN, a nonprofit trade organization representing more than 1,600 companies in the green industry, has committed a total of $450,000 to industry research.

HRI distributes funds to more than 600 research projects related to green industry issues. The organization has directed more than $350,000 to grants and scholarships for 2007. Investment earnings from the HRI Endowment Fund are the primary source of funding for these projects, with more than $8.5 million donated from various individuals and organizations.
