Western Nursery and Landscape names 2007 board

The Western Nursery and Landscape Association’s Board of Directors announced new officers and board members for 2007 during its annual meeting and trade show in Overland Park, Kansas.

Steve Ritter, president and general manager of Ritter’s Inc., a garden center, florist and design/build landscaping firm, will serve as president of the association. In the past, Ritter has served as president of the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association, president of the West Burlington Kiwanis Club and chairman of the Des Moines County Board of Supervisors. Ritter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture from Iowa State University and teaches a horticulture program at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington.

Sandi Hillerman McDonald has been named the association’s newest board member. McDonald, president of Hillerman Nursery and Florist, which has been in business since 1951, is the first female president of the Garden Centers of America, based in Georgia.

Western Nursery and Landscape Association works with green industry associations across the Midwest to encourage networking and meet the needs of members.
