The Professional Grounds Management Society is accepting submissions for its 2007 Green Star Awards competition, a program designed to recognize well-maintained grounds on a national level. The Green Star Awards acknowledge the grounds superintendent and staff who maintain a well-manicured landscape throughout the year.
The competition recognizes grounds management in 15 categories: small sites; residential landscapes; public works sites; shopping areas; hospitals or institutions; government buildings or complexes; cemeteries or memorial parks; industrial, commercial sites or office parks; athletic fields, professional fields or golf courses; and school grounds, university and college grounds or urban university grounds. One Grand Award will be given, and judges may grant as many Honor Awards as they choose.
The deadline for entries is August 3. For more information and an official entry form, visit www.pgms.org/greenstars. Entry fees are $150 for PGMS members and $225 for others. Non-members may join PGMS and enter the contest for a reduced rate of $275. There is no limit to the number of categories an organization may enter. The competition accepts only digital photographs with brief descriptions of each.
Winners will be honored at the 2007 Awards Banquet in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 27.
