Rain Bird promotes two members of golf strategic business unit

Rain Bird has promoted Barbara Booth to group director and Michael Roberts to director of its golf strategic business unit.

In her new position, Booth, previously director of Golf SBU, will remain responsible for this division and become responsible for golf services, the golf and commercial pump station and new business development. Booth has worked for Rain Bird since 2000, when she joined the company as Accessories SBU’s business manager.

Before joining Rain Bird, Booth worked as the vice president of finance and business development for Visual Concepts, a software company based in Ventura, California. She earned both a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.

In his role as director of the Rain Bird Golf SBU, Roberts will be responsible for the general management of the company’s worldwide golf irrigation business. Roberts has worked for Rain Bird since July 2006, when he worked as the Golf SBU quality service manager to improve product quality and the company’s responsiveness to customers’ field issues.

Roberts previously worked as vice president of research at Duracell/Gillette (now subsidiaries of Procter and Gamble). He is originally from Ireland and earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from University College in Dublin. He also earned a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in chemical engineering from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York.
