Millenia Walls and the Structural Plastics Group have entered into a manufacturing agreement. Under the terms, SPG will manufacture the components of Millenia’s system in 100-percent recycled, pre-consumer polymeric resin.
Millenia’s lightweight retaining wall system uses a confinement cell secured to a rigid frame. The units that SPG has begun manufacturing weigh five pounds. Beveled edges allow for forming of curved walls, and once units are set they are filled with crushed stone for stability.
An independent Life Cycle Assessment found that Millenia’s polymer units yield a 55 percent reduction in overall environmental impact and a 65 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions when compared to concrete. The units can also earn builders up to eight LEED points.
