Chemilizer promotes Eco-Irrigation

Chemilizer Products has partnered with Applied and Experimental Microbiology to promote Eco-Irrigation, an environmentally friendly approach to irrigation. While many irrigation systems currently work to conserve water, some in the industry feel more can be done in the way of biological products.

The goal of Eco-Irrigation is “water conservation through reduced demand, reduction of run-off and the reduction of pesticide and fertilizer chemical use,” according to Chemilizer’s Web site. The company says that some available biological products do more harm than good due to limited shelf life and an impractical delivery method.

However, when products with extended shelf lives are combined with high efficiency liquid fertilizers and more accurate injection equipment, these elements have been found to produce beneficial results in the battle to conserve water: a 60-percent decrease in water demand, up to a 50-percent decrease in fertilizer use, over a 50-percent decrease in pesticide use in many cases and a significant reduction in fertilizer and pesticide run off.
