Gene and Beverly Grant of Grant & Power Landscaping, West Chicago, Illinois, donated $40,000 to the volunteers of Operation Support Our Troops-Illinois (OSOTIL). The check was presented at the 2008 Rockin’ for the Troops concert.
Grant & Power became involved with OSOTIL in 2006 as a sponsor for the 2006 Rockin’ for the Troops concert. Gene and Beverly’s son and daughter both served in the military along with a nephew. Their son was killed in a car accident while on leave from the Navy.
In 2007, the company committed 3 percent of its new business for the months of July, August and September, which resulted in a donation of $30,000. That money was put toward a new OSOTIL warehouse that is used to collect items for packing and sending to troops around the world.
