PGMS names 2008 Green Star Award winners

The Professional Grounds Management Society recognized 19 grounds management programs in its 2008 Green Star Awards Competition. The awards were presented during the PGMS School of Grounds Management held October 22-25 in conjunction with GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Kentucky.

PGMS gave eight Grand Awards, its highest honor, and 11 Honor Awards in seven categories of competition. The winners are as follows:

Urban University Grounds category:
Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas-Grand Award

University of Maryland, Baltimore County-Honor Award

University and College Grounds category:

Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan-Honor Award

Condominium or Apartment Complex category:
Ocean Edge Condos, Brewster, Massachusetts-Grand Award
Henry Ford Village, Flat Rock, Michigan-Grand Award
Palisades Park, Chantilly, Virginia-Honor Award

Amusement Park, Theme Park or Zoo category:
Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, California-Grand Award for “Year of A Million Dreams” project
Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, California-Honor Award for “Jungle Cruise Rehab” project
Smithsonian National Zoological Park, Washington, D.C.-Honor Award

Athletic Fields category:
