Stihl expands operations, hires workers

Updated Feb 19, 2013

Stihl will spend $10.3 million to expand its operations in Virginia Beach by 53,256 square feet and hire 52 workers. This expansion will allow the company to double its manufacturing capacity for blow-molded plastic products.

Stihl will spend approximately $4.9 million to build the facility on land now used for parking, $4.6 million on machinery and $800,000 for other equipment, city officials say.

The Virginia Beach Development Authority has awarded Stihl an Economic Development Investment Program grant in the amount of $100,000 based on the capital investment and number of full-time jobs created.
