FMC Suffers from Sandy but Donates to Victims

Updated Feb 19, 2013

Hurricane Sandy devastated parts of the northeastern United States in late October leaving thousands without power and hundreds without homes.

“One of FMC’s missions is to provide the conveniences of life. Supporting the American Red Cross will help ensure that people displaced by this storm can continue to have shelter in the days to come.”

Volunteer groups, individuals, and many companies have worked tirelessly to restore order before the winter months with help from donations, including one from the FMC Corporation.

The company recently donated $75,000 to the American Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

“It is heart wrenching to see the destruction caused by this hurricane,” said Pierre Brondeau, FMC president, CEO and chairman. “One of FMC’s missions is to provide the conveniences of life. Supporting the American Red Cross will help ensure that people displaced by this storm can continue to have shelter in the days to come.”

The company took a direct hit from the storm as its headquarters is located in Philadelphia, its global research center in Ewing, New Jersey and the FMC Bio Polymer plant in Newark, Delaware, as well as a distribution center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

In spite of the storm, the company is continuing to provide an Early Order Program for consumers enabling them to save approximately seven percent now until Dec. 15 on a variety of products.
