Updated May 9, 2013

E-Verify_Logo Registered-1One landscaping company in Arizona is double checking and triple checking to make sure all of its employees are legal to work in the United States.

The East Valley Tribune in Arizona reports that CareScape is the first landscape company to join IMAGE, or Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.

CareScape is the first landscape company and is only one of five businesses in Arizona to join the federal government program.

The program includes a tool called E-Verify that screens employees as well as audits the company’s I-9 forms.

The National Small Business Association recently released its 2013 Workforce and Immigration Survey, and nearly half of the respondents said they rely on high skilled workers with a STEM background.

However, the survey also said that 76 percent do not use any type of E-Verify system or have never heard of it.
