Underhill International Corp., a manufacturer of irrigation products, has introduced a new tool for removing sprinklers. Called the “Easy Out,” the tool requires no digging, fits all major brands and simplifies sprinkler head removal (2-inch to 12-inch sprays) for repairs or modification, the company says.

According to Underhill, Easy Out can be used to replace a broken sprinkler, add a fitting to increase height, cap off unwanted heads or convert heads to drip line. Using the tool saves time and prevents damage to turf and landscape, the company says.

Underhill’s Easy Out kit includes an alignment rod to prevent dirt from entering the piping system and a heavy-duty removal tool with hex head at the bottom end.

Here’s how it works: A landscaper removes the sprinkler cap and inside components, then inserts the alignment rod into the body. The Easy Out tool is placed over the rod and slides into the sprinkler. The tool is then rotated counter-clockwise to remove the body from the piping system. The replacement sprinkler is placed over the rod and down into ground. Finally, the removal tool is rotated clockwise to connect the new sprinkler to pipe.

Underhill says the same steps are followed to add a fitting to the bottom of the spray head, or to cap off a sprinkler, or when converting to drip by removing the sprinkler and attaching drip tubing to a barb fitting.

Master Manufacturing debuts ‘Spraying Simple’ app

Master Manufacturing, a brand of Valley Industries, has launched a free app for download on Apple or Android phones called “Spraying Simple.”

The free app helps spray applicators determine how much liquid they’ll need based on the dimensions of the jobsite. Photo: Master ManufacturingThe free app helps spray applicators determine how much liquid they’ll need based on the dimensions of the jobsite.

The app calculates how much liquid a spraying applicator will need for a particular job. It also includes a speedometer function, ensuring a proper application rate by monitoring the applicator’s speed.

Master Manufacturing says users can map or walk the spray area and integrate their brand of spray equipment into the app to calculate the needed liquid for the project.
