RVi Planning + Landscape Architecture, a 34-year-old firm headquartered in Austin, Texas, announced Tuesday it is expanding beyond Texas for the first time with the addition of fully staffed offices in Oakland, California, and Phoenix, Arizona. RVi already has additional offices in Dallas and Houston.

The expansion is made possible through an equity investment in RVi by national consulting, engineering and construction firm Atwell LLC. In addition to its corporate headquarters in Southfield, Michigan, Atwell has offices in more than a dozen U.S. cities as well as in Canada.

“With Atwell as a business partner, RVi is now poised to accelerate our growth on a national scale,” said RVi CEO Bob Richardson. “We are continuing to look for opportunities to enter new markets across the United States.”

Atwell already owns a landscape architecture, urban design and planning firm, Golden Associates. Golden’s Phoenix and Oakland offices will become part of and will be managed by RVi.

RVi’s name and existing leadership team will remain in place.

“We chose to invest in RVi because we respect what the company’s leadership has built over the past three-and-a- half decades,” said Atwell President and CEO Brian R. Wenzel. “RVi is a very well-managed company, and together we are poised to achieve even greater success on a national scale.”

RVi provides planning and landscape architecture services in a variety of market sectors, including master-planned communities, commercial developments, parks and academic campuses, among others.
