Photo: EZ-JectA sister company of ArborSystems, EZ-Ject will be introducing its new product, Soil Injector Lite, at the Tree Care Industry Association Expo during Nov. 2 – 4 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.
The Soil Injector Lite is an easily transportable tool for tree and shrub pesticide and fertilizer applications under the soil surface. The injector weighs 8.5 pounds compared to the 14-pound Soil Injector Standard.
“We will have hands-on demonstrations for arborists, urban foresters and tree care professionals to try our newest product, EZ-Ject Soil Injector Lite,” said Chip Doolittle, president of ArborSystems. “ArborSystems will also feature our newest chemical, Retriever insecticide, for the control of aphids, caterpillars, scale, Japanese beetles, leaf miners, leafhoppers and other pests.”
The soil injector has a pumping system that delivers half an ounce (15 mL) per stroke and the option of a quarter ounce (7.5 mL) per stroke. It uses a one gallon tank that is semi-transparent and has a wide-mouth screw cap for filling. It has an injection depth from two to eight inches, adjustable foot plate and probe depth control.
“Tree, turf and ornamental specialists and applicators will see how they don’t need to be connected to their truck with its high-pressure rig, especially in those hard-to-reach areas, when they use EZ-Ject Soil Injectors,” Doolittle said.
The Retriever insecticide can be used in the ArborSystems Wedgle Direct-Inject Tree Injection System and comes in 120 mL and 1,000 mL packs. It can be applied to ornamental or non-bearing fruit and nut trees.
Retriever’s active ingredient is acetamiprid and will translocate in the tree’s vascular system when injected. The Wedgle system is the only tree trunk injection application method that does not require a drilled hole.

Arborjet introduces new solution for interveinal chlorosis
Arborjet’s latest product, Mn-jet Fe, is a liquid micronutrient solution designed for trees, palms, shrubs and groundcovers suffering from manganese and iron deficiencies.
Interveinal chlorosis typically appears when there is a shortage of these two micronutrients. Chlorotic trees’ foliage tends to turn a pale green or yellow while the veins remain dark green. Severe cases result in necrosis and twig dieback.

Trees left untreated often decline and become vulnerable to insects and other diseases. It commonly affects oak, sweetgum, birch, pine, maple and azaleas. Chlorosis is typically seen in the West and Midwest regions of the U.S. due to the alkaline soil.
Mn-jet Fe can be applied as formulated or diluted in water. It can be applied through micro- or macro-infusion equipment or as a foliar spray for shrubs and groundcovers.
Summer applications can show green-up in as little as two weeks, while the fall rate of application can provide up to three years of green-up.

Kabuto approved for use for spring dead spot
Kabuto Fungicide SC, a PBI-Gordon product, has recently received federal registration from the Environmental Protection Agency for use in the treatment of spring dead spot in warm-season turfgrass.
“Spring dead spot is, without a doubt, the most severe disease for warm-season turfgrasses such as bermudagrass,” said Jim Goodrich, fungicide product manager for PBI-Gordon. “The disease appears in circular patches that remain dormant as the bermudagrass comes out of winter dormancy. The turf in these patches eventually collapses to the ground, leaving sunken areas in the turf that severely detract from its uniformity and playability.”
Kabuto is said to be highly effective at low and high use rates and causes no phytotoxic concerns.
