Roundup: Hydroseeding

Self-contained blower aids in controlling erosion
With the TM-45 from Express Blower, landscapers can spread a variety of materials from compost and mulches to soil blends, aggregates and wood chips to help in erosion control or other landscaping applications. Powered by a 275-horsepower Tier III Caterpillar C-7 engine, the steel-frame aluminum box mounts on many truck or trailer configurations. The blower features a 286-foot hose to blow material up to 300 feet.

Hydraulic mulches for medium to severe slopes
North American Green’s HydraMatriCx Series of hydraulic erosion control products was developed in cooperation with Cotton Incorporated and the USDA. Both products feature a blend of straw, reclaimed cotton plant material, tackifiers and polymers. Extreme Slope Matrix is designed for steep to severe slopes, 2:1 to 1:1, and Steep Slope Matrix works well for medium-length moderate to steep slopes, 4:1 to 3:1.

Hydromulcher handles slurries from light to heavy
Turbo Technologies HM-500-HARV hydromulcher is powered by a 25-horsepower Kohler Command Pro engine and is available as a skid or pull system. The machine includes a hydraulic reversible agitator, gear pump for heavier slurries and a poly tank for quick cleanup. The machine comes standard with a 50-gallon flush tank, electric rewind hose reel and contractor grade platform with multi position turret gun.

Hydroseeding units use recycled mulch
MS Hydroseeding units from MS Sprayer use natural mulch made from recycled newspaper. The mulch contains a green coloring to help blend into lawns. With product lines for landscaping and industrial, sprayers are available with polyethylene tank sizes from 200 to 1,000 gallons. The Landscape Series also includes stationary or trailer versions.

Hydroseeder for small and mid-sized jobs
Reinco’s Hydrograsser HG5H3/A is powered by a 20-horsepower Honda gas engine and has a two-inch spray discharge boom. Using primary mechanical and secondary Hydrojet agitation, the HG5H3/A delivers a uniform, rapid slurry mix. The carbon steel tank has a 625-gallon total volume capacity and comes in truck mount or trailer versions.

Erosion control for large and hard-to-reach areas
The Titan hydroseeder from Finn Corporation was designed to control erosion on large coverage areas, steep slopes and hard-to-reach areas. The Titan is available in three tank sizes from 2,500 to 3,600 gallons, features a 170-horsepower turbo diesel Tier III Cummins QSB engine and can spray distances up to 320 feet from the discharge tower. The engine has a control panel with digital information display and an ECU with self-diagnostics.
