Makita

Makita U.S.A., Inc., has released two new 40V max XGT cutting and trimming solutions for landscapers, both engineered to replace gas-powered equipment.

The new 40V max XGT solutions include a Brush Cutter (GRU06) and 18” High Torque String Trimmer (GRU07). Both deliver the performance of 35cc gas equivalent brush cutters and string trimmers, but with lower noise, less maintenance, zero emissions and no pull starts. They are ideal for landscapers and mow-and-blow contractors seeking to convert their trucks or trailers to battery-powered.

Brush Cutter

The Brush Cutter has a bike-handle design for improved grip and a more ergonomic working position and includes a 10” steel four-tooth brush cutter blade for cutting grasses, shrubs, and underwood. The Brush Cutter can also accept a trimmer head with an 18” cutting swath for increased productivity (trimmer head not included).

It has a steel driveshaft for lower vibration and longer equipment life. For cutting dense material, the high torque mode is engineered for constant speed and efficient cutting.

18" Dual Rotation, High Torque String Trimmer

The 18" Dual Rotation, High Torque String Trimmer is engineered to provide the power equivalent to a 35cc string trimmer, but with lower noise, less maintenance, zero emissions, and no pull starts. The GRU07 features a dual rotation feature that rotates the trimmer head clockwise or counterclockwise based on user preference.

The String Trimmer features high torque gear ratios that power through overgrown grass with 20 percent more torque (when compared to Makita model GRU03). It features a cruise control lever with a variable speed trigger for controlled cutting speed and a high torque boost mode for cutting dense material. The GRU07 features a steel-drive shaft for less vibration and longer equipment life.

The string trimmer features a rapid load bump & feed trimmer head line loads in seconds with three easy steps: align, feed, and twist.

Convenience features

The GRU06 features include a wide brush cutter debris shield designed for use with nylon trimmer heads or metal brush cutter blades and a high torque boost mode for cutting dense material. The GRU07 features include a high visibility string trimmer guard for improved cutting visibility, an adjustable loop handle for operator comfort, and a 5" high-capacity trimmer head pre-loaded with a .105" trimmer line.

XGT: One system of cordless equipment and tools

The new Brush Cutter and the String Trimmer are part of Makita XGT, an expanding system of 40V max and 80V max cordless equipment and tools. XGT gives users one system, from core handheld tools like drills and impact drivers to equipment-grade products including high-capacity saws, rotary hammers, and power cutters – all powered by 40V max XGT batteries. The expanding XGT System will offer 125+ products in 2024.
