Landscape contractors may be unfamiliar with Vacuworx, as most of the company’s vacuum lifting systems are designed for large industrial applications such as pipelines. Now, though, Vacuworx has introduced a portable, lightweight machine capable of lifting up to 2,200 pounds.

The cordless PS 1 Portable Vacuum Lifting System is powered by a rechargeable battery, which has an eight-hour run time.

The manufacturer emphasizes that Vacuworx is a safer alternative to manual lifting, billing it as the right machine for “smaller lifting challenges that come up daily on jobsites.”

The patent pending portable lifter is capable of lifting heavy pieces of concrete, marble, granite, metal, steel and iron, Vacuworx says. Also, because it’s powered by a 12-volt battery, the PS 1 is ideal for applications where no power source is available or where no emissions are permitted.

The machine weighs in at just 25 pounds. Its “suitcase” lifter can be used indoors or outside, making it a good companion tool for compact equipment such as skid steers, mini electric excavators, forklifts and small cranes.

The PS 1 features three standard, interchangeable pad options. They range from 8 inches by 12 inches (693-pound lifting capacity) to 16 inches by 16 inches (1,654-pound lifting capacity). The manufacturer says additional pad configurations are available upon request.

Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Vacuworx was founded in 1999 and makes a variety of material handling equipment for the oil, gas, water, sewer, utility and road construction industries.
