Granite Industries and its subsidiary, Overland Carts, have had their eye on the landscape market since Overland began building power wheelbarrows eight years ago. Although the company certainly welcomes sales to DIY homeowners, its most powerful products are aimed at commercial users.

Take, for example, the Granite PowerTrak 1100, a gasoline-powered wheelbarrow that is capable of hauling 1,100 pounds in its 10-cubic-foot hopper. Granite says the PowerTrak’s seven-horsepower Kohler engine provides plenty of power for uphill climbs, while the machine’s tracks reinforce its stability on inclines and uneven terrain.

The PowerTrak 1100 features a hydraulic power dump option for complete control over the dumping of the bucket. The bucket itself is sourced from Brentwood Industries, which Granite cites as the “best in the wheelbarrow industry.”

The 1100’s one-gallon gas tank provides three to four hours of continuous run time. You can find complete specifications on the machine here.

Overland Carts, meanwhile, offers numerous battery-powered wheelbarrows aimed at landscape contractors.

At 10 cubic feet, the C27-10A has the largest capacity hopper in the lineup. It’s capable of hauling up to 750 pounds. The manufacturer says it’s perfect for moving concrete, stone or mulch. The machine operates by twisting a throttle on the handle, and Overland says the locking hinge hopper makes dumping loads quick and easy.

Some landscape contractors may prefer the 9-cubic-foot, wagon-style hopper (photo). With its large drive wheels in front and two flat-free wheels that swivel in the rear, the wagon model moves easily and remains stable on grass and stone, according to the manufacturer.

As with most other models, the user simply walks behind the cart, which will advance at up to 2.4 miles per hour.

Along with batteries and chargers, of course, Overland offers ball hitch attachments to enable landscapers to move trailers with one of the company’s battery-powered machines. Accessory equipment also includes special adapters to enable landscapers to dump from the side rather than the front of the wheelbarrow.

For jobs that involve moving heavy loads on rough terrain, Overland Carts offers a four-wheel-drive model. Here’s a video on that product:
