Case and CNH Industrial workers participated in the event, with Case also donating the use of an SV300 skid steer.The Victory Garden Initiative held its seventh annual “Victory Garden Blitz” in May, with some 300 volunteers donating lots of time and elbow grease to the effort. More than 500 raised-bed gardens were installed at homes and businesses throughout the greater Milwaukee area, bringing the total number of gardens realized through the initiative to nearly 2,500.
The Milwaukee-based Victory Garden team expanded their involvement this year by training teams in Berea, Kentucky, and Green Bay, Wisconsin, to run their own Victory Garden Blitz events, resulting in almost 400 gardens built throughout those communities.
Case Construction Equipment and CNH Industrial are two partners of the Victory Garden Blitz. Employees from both the Case offices in Racine, Wisconsin, and the CNH Industrial offices in Burr Ridge, Illinois, participated. “Giving back to the community is a core principle for all of us at Case,” says Jim Hasler, vice president, Case Construction Equipment-North America. “We are always amazed at the efforts and the positive impact the Victory Garden Initiative has on our community.” In addition to volunteering for the Victory Garden Initiative, the manufacturer donated the use of an SV300 skid steer for the event.
The gardens are made possible with a $160 donation or sponsorship. Each garden is 4-by-8 feet and includes a full installation as well as new soil from local composters. Volunteers install the gardens in backyards and front yards of homes, schools, community centers and other sites.
