Fresh water must be managed appropriately with many competing demands including homeowners wanting beautiful and healthy lawns and gardens. Helping in the effort, several Toro irrigation controllers use weather-sensing technology to properly irrigate lawns and gardens with minimal waste.
Irrigation controllers must meet stringent requirements to earn the EPA’s WaterSense label. They must be “smart” — that is, able to use weather data to automatically adjust watering schedules according to current conditions. They must adequately water the entire landscape without overwatering, ensuring plants get just the right amount of water — no more, no less. Additionally, controllers must be able to adhere to local watering restrictions, in terms of watering days or water “windows.”
Toro’s Intelli-Sense Series of controllers use WeatherTRAK scheduling software which collects data via weather stations, transmitted through satellites and delivered via ET Everywhere to the Intelli-Sense controller. Based on daily updates, irrigation schedules are updated automatically to ensure precise water amounts are delivered every time.
For the TMC-212 Series and Custom Command Series, Toro earned the WaterSense label by integrating with the Irritrol Climate Logic weather sensing system. This offers “smart” control from 4 to 48 zones to save water.
