Scooter’s Lawn Care based in Springfield, Illinois, started like many other lawn care and landscaping businesses as a one-man show in 2014.

Now in 2017 it has one full-time lawn care crew, one full-time large project crew, one chemical application crew, and two seasonal snow plowing crews. Along with this growth in employees, Scooter’s Lawn Care began to take on increasingly larger yard-grading and landscaping tasks.

Soon it was obvious the business needed a compact machine to boost productivity and efficiency on jobsites. Previously, Scooter’s Lawn Care would rent the equipment or resorted to manual labor but it knew it was ready to invest in a machine of its own to save on time and long-term costs.

“We knew we needed a compact machine that could easily fit through a standard yard gate, and we needed versatility to help with a range of different landscaping jobs,” said Jacob Godar, owner and CEO of Scooter’s Lawn Care.

The employees began to take advantage of trade shows and industry events to demo various manufacturers’ compact loaders and mini skid steers to find a machine that was cut out for their daily work.

When tasked with helping remove a residential aboveground pool, the company demoed a Ditch Witch mini skid steer. Due to the ease and efficiency of the job, Scooter’s Lawn Care ended up deciding to buy a SK752 unit.

“The SK752 accepts a range of attachments to tackle multiple jobs, and compact tractors don’t provide that type of versatility,” Godar said. “With our mini skid steer, we have saved significant time and labor. A job that would have taken a week in the past, now takes only two or three days to complete. The SK752 is helping our business tenfold.”

Another reason why Scooter’s Lawn Care selected Ditch Witch’s mini skid steer is because it has access to the dealership in the Springfield for any service or support needs.

“The Ditch Witch customer support was another selling point for us,” Godar said. “We have worked with various manufacturers for other equipment needs and demos, and we found the Ditch Witch dealership was much more responsive and clearly dedicated to prioritizing customer needs.”

Scooter’s Lawn Care offers everything from weekly lawn care to landscape design/build.
