Battery

WORX unveiled the new 20V MAX 4.0 Ah battery, which the company says features twice the run time of the 20V 2.0 Ah battery. This, WORX says, enables users to get more from their lawn and garden tools.

“It’s a huge benefit for our tool users and something they’ve been asking for,” said Brandon Martin, WORX product manager. “Delivering twice the run time compared to the 2.0 Ah battery, there’s minimal interruptions due to power loss when users are in the middle of a job or project.”

Weighing 1.5 lbs., the company says the 20V 4.0 Ah battery is compatible with all WORX 20V lawn and garden tools, and it is part of the WORX 20V Power Share program.

Featuring a built-in fuel gauge, WORX says users can monitor charge levels by pressing an electronic keypad that signals the battery’s charge status. The company says that a conventional WORX 20V charger takes up to five hours, but optional WORX 20V chargers including the 60 minute (WA3868, $39.99) and 25 minute charger (WA3835, $49.99) take 2 hours and 50 minutes respectively, to reach full charge.

The company says at minimum, the 4.0 Ah battery doubles run time for all WORX 20V lawn and garden tools, and they add that if it’s a 1.5 Ah battery, run time increases more than 2-1/2 times.

WORX says its 20V WORX Power Share program features an array of tools and kits. A sampling of the 20V Power Share tools include the WORX Axis combination reciprocating and jig saw, GT trimmer, Turbine leaf blower, JawSaw, hedge trimmer and more.

Trimmer/edger/mini-mower

By merging their 20V 4.0 Ah MAX Lithium battery with their GT trimmer, WORX has created the WORX 20V 4.0 GT trimmer/edger/mini-mower. This unity, the company says, doubles the trimmer’s run time over its predecessor, the 20V 2.0 GT trimmer, enabling users to get more trimming and edging completed on a single charge.

“This GT trimmer is our longest running trimmer in the WORX 20V line,” said Martin.

The company says this product is a powerful grass trimmer, a precision edger and a mini-mower all in one, and its twist-and-edge feature easily converts the trimmer into a wheeled, walk-behind edger for edging driveways, sidewalks, walkways and patios.

WORX notes that switching to the mini-mower is quick and easy, and it can be accomplished by repositioning the wheels to the back of the trimmer’s shroud. The wheels lift the trimmer 3 in. off the ground, which the company says is an optimum cutting height for mowing.

The company says that the mini-mower is handy when trimming between bushes, beneath picnic tables, narrow strips of grass between homes, berms and other hard-to-reach areas, and when the wheels are not in use, they are removable.

WORX says that the GT trimmer is environmentally friendly, balanced, lightweight and highly maneuverable. The GT trimmer also features a telescoping shaft that adjusts in length to match the user’s height and posture when trimming.

The GT trimmer also has a multi-adjustable auxiliary, front-assist handle with a smooth rubber grip for comfort and control.

WORX adds that the GT trimmer incorporates an auto-feed line system that advances trimmer line automatically between stops and starts. This feature, the company says, eliminates the need to bump the trimmer’s head to advance line.

Featuring a 12 in. cutting swath and an adjustable metal spacer guard, the company says these features help keep the trimmer’s line from cutting into flower beds, tree trunks, lawn ornaments and other sensitive areas.

The shaft of the GT trimmer tilts from 0 to 90°. This feature, WORX says, allows the user to trim underneath decks, shrubs and other obstructed, hard-to-reach areas.

Operating at a no-load speed of 8500 rpm, WORX says that with the trimmer there’s no fumbling with line changes, as the company incorporated a quick-change, snap-in spool system and includes two free 1 in. x 10 ft. spools.

Once the trimmer is registered, the company’s Spools for Life program begins. The user receives free spools for the life of the tool and pays only for postage.

Including two 20V 4.0 Ah MAX Lithium battery packs, one 2-hour charger and two spools of line, the WORX 20V 4.0 GT trimmer/edger/mini-mower (WG160.4, $149.99) is covered by the WORX 3-year warranty.

Pole saw

WORX also unleashed a new, cordless version of its 2-in-1 pruning and yard clean-up tool with the introduction of the 10 in., 20V 2-in-1 pole saw.

The company says that this tool includes all of the exclusive features of other WORX electric chainsaws including automatic chain tensioning system and instant oil lubrication.

“Cordless operation enables the new 2-in-1 pole saw to be used unrestrained, anywhere in the yard, and its tool-less extension pole provides a total reach of 10 ft.,” said Martin “Users stand safely on the ground while trimming broken or low-hanging branches, trimming trees or thinning shrubbery. The saw also detaches without tools from the extension pole to cut tree limbs up to 10 in. diameter for firewood or disposal.”

Powered by a compact, 20V, MAX Lithium 2.0 Ah battery, the company says the charge level of the battery can be instantly monitored by pressing an electronic keypad.

The battery also is interchangeable with all WORX 20V lawn and garden tools since it is part of the WORX 20V Power Share program.

Tool-less installation of the extension pole is easy, according to the company. A connection bracket at the end of the pole is aligned and inserted into the saw’s handle, which is secured by hand-tightening a large locking knob.

Weighing only 10.4 lbs., the saw is equipped with a 10 in. low-kickback bar and has a 3/8 in. chain pitch.

The company says that the overmolds on both front and rear handles improve operator comfort and control, especially during extended use.

The pole saw includes the patented WORX Auto-Chain Tension system. When a large dial on the saw’s body is turned, the system sets the proper chain tension to prevent over-tightening, according to WORX.

Including an oil level indicator, the company says that the automatic oiler system provides constant lubrication to both the bar and chain during operation.

The pole saw, according to WORX, is eco-friendly, is emission-free and has low operating and maintenance costs when compared to gas-powered models. It is covered by a WORX 3-year warranty.

The WORX 10 in., 20V 2-in-1 pole saw and chainsaw (WG323, $149.99) includes a 20V battery, charger, 10 ft. extension pole and blade protection cover.
