These clients wanted to give their home’s dated appearance a fresh look without taking out a second mortgage. Instead of removing the old concrete porch, it was extended by 24 inches using two courses of VERSA-LOK retaining-wall units. To match the sides of the concrete stoop with the split-face texture of the blocks on the front, slices of the retaining-wall units were split off and then bonded to the side of the stoop like veneer. The entire surface was then covered with Willow Creek pavers that match the newly widened sidewalk.
