The National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) has announced the launch date of its new careers website will be March 15.

The site will include video profiles on key industry jobs, as well as stories. Users can access mentors and a job board. The job board is currently available although the full careers website will be unveiled two weeks later.

NALP encourages landscaping companies to go ahead and list their job postings so they will be center stage when the website is officially launched during the week of the National Collegiate Landscape Competition.

All job postings will be free during 2017. The funding for the job board and career website have been covered by the companies supporting NALP’s Industry Growth Initiative.

On the job board allows the user to search jobs by keywords, location and employer. Companies can currently choose to pay $5 for an immediate need icon on the job or $10 to have the listing stand out as a featured job. After Dec. 31, 2017, NALP members will continue to enjoy the free listings, while non-members will be required to pay $100 per listing.

The webinar titled “I Have a Drone, Now What?” is presented by Hotchkiss Insurance. Dr. James Robbins of the University of Arkansas-Cooperative Extension is the speaker and has been involved with drones since 2010.

Last summer the Federal Aviation Administration released permanent rules for commercial users of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) knowns as Part 107. These new rules allow those in the green industry a straightforward path to commercial drone use.

Robbins will walk participants through aircraft registration and Remote Pilot Certification. There will be an emphasis on preparing for and taking the exam. Click here to register.

Irrigation Association acquires monthly trade publication

The Irrigation Association (IA) finalized its acquisition of Irrigation & Green Industry magazine on Feb. 28 after a year of negotiation with ISG Communications Inc.

Irrigation & Green Industry is a monthly publication that focuses on landscape and irrigation business, covering outdoor power equipment and recent industry news. It is distributed in both a print and digital format.

“Taking on Irrigation & Green Industry magazine is a significant opportunity for the Irrigation Association,” said Deborah Hamlin, IA CEO. “The collaboration offers us the opportunity to expand our reach to the growing landscape industry and helps to fulfill our vision to be the recognized authority on irrigation.”

The magazine was founded in 1995 by Denne Goldstein and is based in Reseda, California. The staff will remain located there and Goldstein will continue to serve on the publication.

“Denne’s knowledge of the industry is indispensable,” Hamlin said. “His legacy will continue to be apparent in each issue.”

With this addition, the association’s quarterly publication, Irrigation Today magazine, will transition to an agriculture focus with its July issue.
