Polaris Industries unveiled a new side-by-side utility task vehicle (UTV) this week, boasting its General off-road vehicle sets a new standard in versatility.

The General’s 100-horsepower ProStar 1000 engine delivers the power and torque landscapers need, Polaris says, complemented by a payload capacity of 1,100 pounds and a dump box capable of handling 600 pounds.

Polaris General features a completely new cabin, the manufacturer says. Factory-installed half doors with armrests offer extra protection from debris and work-friendly cab access. The cab features dual bolstered bucket seats, adjustable for the driver, while the thin-film technology under the seat cover provides a dry ride in wet conditions.

The Polaris General also has a customizable instrumentation cluster that tilts with the steering wheel and includes a combination of digital and analog gauges. To keep work essentials close, the vehicle features 23 liters of integrated storage inside the cab with a combination of enclosed and in-dash storage. Dual removable floor drains allow for easier clean out of the cabin.

The vehicle has an 81-inch wheelbase and performance-oriented suspension. Ground clearance is best-in-class, according to Polaris, at 12 inches when unloaded and 7.4 inches when loaded with 600 pounds of gear.

The General is designed with a full-body skid plate to protect against trail obstacles.

The all-wheel-drive, or AWD, system ensures that all four wheels will engage “almost instantly,” Polaris says, for more forward traction whenever it’s needed, reverting back to 2WD at the appropriate time.

The vehicle’s engine braking system provides more control when trailering up to 1,500 pounds and on descents.

Polaris says the General can be customized in a variety of ways and it’s available in three different models.
