Going with the Flow

Updated Apr 17, 2013

Cipriano Landscape Design created a one-of-a-kind feature with rock croppings and two waterfalls fashioned from 1,000 tons of Pennsylvania chunk Karney stones. Because of a steep slope and strict municipal regulations, the crew was limited on space. To provide substantial water features without shrinking the size of the pool, landscape and pool designer Chris Cipriano mimicked vertical outcropping he had seen on a boat trip along the Hudson River. His crew laid the stones like columns and created a natural vanishing edge. The water flows from the top tier into the pool and then over another edge into a large collection basin that circulates the water.

To add bright colors and contrasting elements to accompany the sound of the water, the crew installed trees and plants such as birches, pines, viburnums, spireas, carpet roses, Black-eyed Susans, hostas and ornamental grasses. The landscape also features a spa, patio, outdoor kitchen, koi pond and fountain.
